It is now February 2008. Here are the latest photos of
project. Due to the fact that this stage is so very long....g....g.....g
and the car is so darned UGLY, I am now listing the photos as being
in Ugly Stage 1., 2., 3. etc. etc.
with the highest number the being the most recent.
This will give you an idea of how many tedious stages this cut, paste,
fabricate, and test fit stage requires. It is painfully
time-consuming, expensive for the owner, and very labor intensive
for the builder. HOWEVER, this is what makes the difference between a 1st
class job and a so-so job.

Smoothie Bumpers were delivered from Lionel Eden in California and re-
fabrication work has begun to strengthen and attach them to the car / Shaved
door handles / dash re-install before custom work is started. The dash
will be created to reflect the modern 1994-96 Impala but it will also have a
flare of the old fashion Impala look added when we are done.

#6: January 2008
The new custom built HOGAN MANIFOLD has arrived.... still partially
wrapped up but it does fit nicely .... with a very low profile. This piece
was critical to enable me to keep the stock hood.
Hogan custom low-profile intake |
 |
A 'mouth" that only a car guy can love. |
Low enough for a STOCK hood ??? Yes-sir-eee! |

#5: December 08
The custom ROLL CAGE is in. Note the easy access to drivers seat ... (when
it is there) It is ugly now but it will be painted then covered to match the
custom interior when we are done.
Roll cage - simple but effective |
Designed for easy entry for driver and passenger side |
Roll cage - it is a six point directly welded to frame |
The past several weeks have been spent to test fit things and make
adjustments, create some newly fabricated parts, and smooth out the body,
etc. It is an ugly stage, but it is a critical part of the overall project
if it is to look right when things are done.

BELOW: The proud owner takes a day away from the office just to set in the driver's
seat for the first time. What a HOOT!
The engine fits.... but now we have to measure for clearance issues
etc. A custom intake manifold has been ordered from Hogan's to fit under the
stock hood.

In December 2007, the car is FINALLY black ..... a flat black base cost after much body
work.... with much more to do. Every spot weld is to be smoothed out and
all seams will be finished the way it should be done.
First time with black paint |
Still very UGLY ! |

The front seats fit ...... decided to keep the look of the Impala SS so
will use the original front seats but they will be completely re-skinned with
new padding added.
Hey ... the seats fit ! |
What a mess, but things do fit. |

There will still be room for 4 ! |

The "tubbing" is done.... and we saved enough room for two
passengers..... it will be a "love seat" but who cares. Just had
to make room for those huge Mickey Thompson tires!

The Big ones fit nicely inside those tubbies!
