WE HAVE LOST A GREAT GUY!   -- Six Pack Member #1--

Ted “Razzor” Dinsmore
(for more on Ted click "here")

On May 16, 2005, Ted “Razzor” Dinsmore passed away after a very short 4 week battle with cancer.  For those who were close to him, we barely had time to say good-bye.  For old time Impala Club members, Ted was famous for the “Razzor Pipe” …. The very first straight air induction system ever created for the 1994-96 Impala.  He was also famous for his “list of mods” complete with part numbers and descriptions that he printed out and carried with him everywhere so he could share it with anyone who owned and Impala.

Ted was a unique man who absolutely loved his Impala.  He had a tremendous love for show cars, drag cars, and the people who work on them.  If you met Razzor, it became clear very quickly that he was completely infatuated and nearly obsessed with the automobile.

For the record, Ted left this earth in such a short time after discovering that he had cancer, but his car buddies and his family made the most of the time we had.  While the circumstances may seem a bit strange to some folks, true Impala lovers everywhere will understand what we did.

On April 18, 2005 Ted called Terry Rodgers, Six-pack Member #3 as he was admitted to the hospital for dehydration caused from being sick during the week before.  After one week of tests, they discovered esophageal cancer and said with treatment, Ted could have at least 5 –10 years to live a normal life.  About 10 days later, surgery was scheduled.  Two days later, doctors gave Ted less than two (2) months to live.  Two (2) days later, Ted lay at his daughter’s home in his deathbed with Hospice caregivers at his bedside.

On May 14th, 2005, Saturday evening, GOFASST held it’ regular car club meeting.  With the help of Club President Mike Morgan and Ted’s daughter Kera Shore, a special cruise was scheduled for all of us to go and see Ted.  On that evening, 20 Impala’s and with more than 25 people drove in a line to Deltona, Florida and we parked on the street and Ted’s bed was positioned so he could look out his window and see his dearly beloved Impala group.  He could barely wave but he could still smile with pride.

For the next 2 hours, our GOFASST members went two-by-two into Ted’s room to say Hello, and to give him our last Good-bye.  As we prepared to leave with heavy hearts, it was suggested and encouraged by his family that we all leave, one by one, with the famous Impala burn-out, so that Ted could see one of his favorite things in life….. some tire smoke and folks enjoying their car!

What a sight it was on a small residential street.  As a special effect, Mike Morgan’s wife played one of Ted’s favorite songs on his favorite instruments, ….the bag-pipe.  The family said that it was one of the last times that Ted smiled with pride and he gave us all a “thumbs-up” sign of appreciation.  Less than 48 hours later, on May 16th.,  Ted passed away quietly.

We will miss him dearly, but we can only appreciate the fact that we all have benefited in one way or another from Ted’s friendship and love for his Impala SS.  I doubt many of us will every have a final good-bye like he got from our GOFASST people who love the Impala and all that it stands for.  He is gone, but he is not forgotten!

In memory of Ted “Razzor” Dinsmore,  GOFASST with the help of Adam Haack and James Wallen, created a special decal.  Our club is offering a Razzor decal for a contribution of $10 which will all be donated to a fund established to help pay some of the hospital bills incurred by Ted’s family.  Any extra money will be used toward education for Ted’s grandchildren.  You can click here to order:

A message from Ted Dinsmore's daughters:

Hello All:

Thank you for your loving support, words of encouragement and prayers during

Dad's illness. Last week we were informed that Dad had taken a turn for the

worse. Monday, May 16, he lost his battle to cancer at 4:35 am. Kera and

Sutton were at his side.

Dad's last days were filled with love, smiles, friends, family, tons of

phone calls, a listen to his favorite Woody Herman album and an incredibly

moving tribute by his Impala SS car buddies. This tribute included songs

played on the bagpipes and 30 Impalas conducting a drive-by complete with

tire burnouts in "Razzor's" honor. Dad was able to experience the entire

event from his hospital bed at Kera's house in Deltona, FL.

A memorial service honoring Dad is being held this Sunday, May 22, at 7:00

pm at the Mokanna 329 Masonic Lodge at 4925 Clarcona Ocoee Road, Orlando, FL

32810. All are welcome. Click here for a link to Dad's web page for more

information: http://www.scottandsutton.com/ted.htm.

In lieu of flowers we are setting up a trust fund in Dad's honor at Bank of

America to help pay for the medical expenses incurred from his illness.

Please forward this e-mail to appropriate parties we have missed. Again,

thank you all for everything.

Love,

Ted 'Razzor' Dinsmore, Jr.'s Daughters: Sutton, Kera and Susan
