HERE IS BOB's Summary of the Show and Event Activities:

GOFASST Spring 2009 Daytona Car Show
Summary of Events
March 28, 2009

Acknowledgements
Before we begin to summarize the events of our 2009 show, we want to acknowledge all the car clubs and individuals who helped to make the 2009 Spring Daytona Car Show a success.

Focuz Technologies:  For the Third Year in a row, Mike Turner, owner of Focuz Technologies, was our featured vendor and a major reason our Spring Daytona Show was a success.  We will itemize Focuz Tech’s contributions to our show later in this summary.

GOFASST:  Although this was a GOFASST Club event, several GOFASST members need to be recognized for their significant contributions to the success of the show.   Roger McKay led me through the tent set-up and garnered a total of 5 passes for use by various vendors and folks hauling equipment into the track for our Spring Show.  Larry Lype also procured 5 passes for use by vendors attending the show.  Larry also hooked us up with the Daytona Ice Supplier which BTW was one of the folks that bought a Sun Coast Hood. Lynn Borchers was instrumental in helping to set-up the tent area on Friday and Saturday, serve the cake, and help with the awards and raffle presentations.  Lynn Borchers also made the flag that flew from the main tent.  Dave Goshorn let the club use his Silverado to haul show items to/from Daytona on Friday and Saturday.  Mike Morgan rented the PA system, transported it to/from the track and set it up and ran it during the show.

SoFASST:  Mike Lukens and Tim Shepard (SoFASST President and Vice President) made major contributions to the Spring Show:  Prior to the event, Mike arranged for the generator, needed for the PA system, and then transported it to/from Daytona.   During the event, Mike offered his services to fix window rollers, fading odometers and A/C Drain Hoses.  Mike was also our parking steward which helped make the drive-in to the show an orderly process.  Tim Shepard was instrumental in car show judging. Both Mike and Tim provided assistance with setting up the tents on Saturday morning.  Ivan Scerri contributed 6 items to the raffle helping to make it a success.  Ivan and his wife, Colleen, also provided major assistance in setting-up the tents on Saturday morning and throughout the day.  Ivan was also a car show judge.  We need to also mention that Mike, Tim, and Ivan are also GOASST members.

GCSSC:  Kenny Canniff, President of GCSSC, was instrumental in lining-up car show judges.  We needed 6 judging teams in order to complete car show judging in an orderly fashion and Kenny, along with Charles McNabb, volunteered to be car show judges.  Kenny also provided PCM tuning assistance for OBD 1 Systems as needed during the day.  Both Kenny & Charles are also GOFASST members.

FLA INC: FLA INC had a great turn-out for the event.  Marcus Fernandez also provided a $200 Gift Certificate for powder coating.

DEEP SOUTH SS:  Howard Rothstein contributed one his Whisperjet Wiring Harnesses which was a much sought after item in the raffle.  Bill Harper (WX3 Performance) provided a $150 off certificate for one his great brake systems.  Gene Zebley also provided car show judging expertise.  John Ratheseth brought his Badder Bowtie, which was a real treat for everyone since it is the Big Dog.  There were also several other Deep South SSers at the show which helped to make it a success.

SAIL:  For the third year in a row, SAIL has been represented at our Spring Show.  This year, both Jay Johnson and Rick Matthews brought their Impalas to the show and John & Laura Ruffo (RMS Auto Parts) also attended driving a 1996 Buick RM Wagon which didn’t make the trip back as it was purchased by yours truly.   Both Jay and Rick did well in the car show as you will see later.

POSSI:  Pancho Mateo and his lovely wife made the trip from New Jersey for our show.  On Friday afternoon, March 27th, Pancho really helped with set-up of the tables and chairs and the hanging of the banners.  Pancho donated three packages of zip ties to the cause which made the hanging of the Banners possible.  There was about a 30MPH wind blowing and the banners did not want to stay up.  The zip ties did the trick.

CariSSma:  Eddie Sowers was the lone representative from CariSSma, but he took home a 2nd place trophy in the Stock Impala SS Class with his 94 SS.

Attendance:    Overall, attendance at the 2009 Spring Daytona Show was well above last year.  We had 65 cars registered for the event, up from 43 cars last year.    Of the 65 cars registered, 43 registered for car show judging.  Last year there were only 30 cars registered for car show judging.  There were other cars that visited the show, but did not register as participants, which meant they did not participate in the raffle.

CONCLUSION
The purpose of holding the Spring Daytona Show is to provide an opportunity for the Impala SS/ B-Body Community to get together and “Show-up, Show-off, and have a Good Time”.  We believe we did that in 2009, thanks to the active participation of those mentioned above.  Additionally, we had the Terry Rodgers and John Rafteseth Pro Street Impalas which everyone wanted to see.  Although we are in a down economy and our raffle prizes were down from 2008, we took in nearly $1400 more in 2009 compared with 2008.  As mentioned above, we had significantly more Impalas in attendance in 2009 compared with 2008 and the car show competition was much stronger in 2009.

Based on the 2009 results, GOFASST will plan to hold a Spring 2010 Daytona Car Show in conjunction with the Daytona Racing District’s “Spring Fling”.   We will wait until late this year to determine if we change the format.  It will depend on the economy and projected vendor participation.

 Respectfully Submitted,

 Bob Borchers,    GOFASST President
