GOFASST Spring 2010 Daytona Car Show
Summary of Events
March 27, 2010

Acknowledgements

Before we begin to summarize the events of our 2010 show, we want to acknowledge all the car clubs and individuals who helped to make the 2010 Spring Daytona Car Show a success.

GOFASST:  Although this was a GOFASST Club event, several GOFASST members need to be recognized for their significant contributions to the success of the show.   Larry Lype worked with Daytona Trophy for the Event T-Shirt and Dash Plaque design.  Larry also procured several passes for use by vendors attending the show hooked us up with the Daytona Ice Supplier. Lynn Borchers was instrumental in helping to set-up the tent area on Friday and Saturday, serve the cake, and help with the awards and raffle presentations.  Lynn also made the flag that flew from the main tent and made three additional Impala Flags for the raffle.  Dave Goshorn let the club use his Silverado SS to haul show items to/from Daytona on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and also provided raffle prizes for the Vendor Tent.  Mark Crosby provided the PA system, transported it to/from the track and set it up for the show.  Terry & Paula Rodgers provided registration forms and worked the registration table on Saturday.  Bob & Lynn Borchers son and daughter helped with T-Shirt sales and with setting up both tents on Friday and Saturday.

SoFASST:  Mike Lukens and Tim Shepard (SoFASST President and Vice President) made major contributions to the Spring Show:  Prior to the event, Mike arranged for the generator, needed for the PA system, and then transported it to/from Daytona.   During the event, Mike offered his services to fix window rollers, fading odometers and A/C Drain Hoses.  Mike was also our parking steward which helped make the drive-in to the show an orderly process.  Tim Shepard was instrumental in car show judging as well as providing a raffle prize. Both Mike and Tim provided assistance with setting up the tents on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.  Ivan Scerri again contributed prizes for the raffle helping to make it a success.  Ivan and his wife, Colleen, also provided major assistance in setting-up the tents on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and throughout the day.  Ivan was also a car show judge.  Colleen also ran the 50-50 drawing making a big success.  We need to also mention that Mike, Tim, and Ivan are also GOASST members.

GCSSC:  Kenny Canniff, President of GCSSC, was instrumental helping with car show judging. Kenny is also a GOFASST member.

FLA INC: FLA INC had a great turn-out for the event.  Marcus Fernandez also provided a $200 Gift Certificate for powder coating.

DEEP SOUTH SS:  Howard Rothstein contributed one his Whisperjet Wiring Harnesses which was a much sought after item in the raffle.  Bill Harper (WX3 Performance) provided a $150 off certificate for one his great brake systems.  Bill Harper also helped us out as a car show judge.  There were also several other Deep South SSers at the show which helped to make it a success.

Attendance

Overall, attendance at the 2010 Spring Daytona Show was down from 2009 when we had 65 cars registered.  In 2010, we had 47 cars registered and 40 participating in the car show competition.  In 2009, there were 43 cars that participated in car show judging.  There were other cars that visited the show, but did not register as participants, which meant they did not participate in the raffle.  At the peak of activity I counted 55 B-Body cars at our show.

           1.      Tent & Table/Chair Rental - $1,227.41

         2.      Trophies - $833.90

Financial Summary:  As you can see from the financial results, we came out in the Red with a loss of $994.32.  In 2009, we had a net profit of $1429.  The difference from 2009 to 2010 can be attributed to the smaller attendance in 2010 plus the cost of the Event T-Shirts.  We currently have 133 Event T-Shirts left and we’ll be selling these over the next few months and will hopefully recoup our loss.

 CONCLUSION:

The purpose of holding the Spring Daytona Show is to provide an opportunity for the Impala SS/ B-Body Community to get together and “Show-up, Show-off, and have a Good Time”.  We believe we did that in 2010, thanks to the active participation of those mentioned above.  Although we are in a down economy and our raffle prizes were down from 2009, we had a better attendance that 2008.  We believe all who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Based on the 2010 results, GOFASST will plan to hold a Spring 2011 Daytona Car Show in conjunction with the Daytona Racing District’s “Spring Fling”.   We will wait until late this year to determine if we change the format.  It will depend on the economy and projected vendor participation.

 Respectfully Submitted,

 Bob Borchers   -   GOFASST President
