Bob Marks Truck
Home Up

Bob Marks decided to convert a stock Sonoma Pick-up to a muscle car, one of a kind, daily driver with power.

Truck is now included as a Calendar Page:  Gee.... our first "Pin-Up Star" !!!!!

The photos below show much of the work involved with sliding in some real power into a rather small space where the old six cylinder use to set.

As of October 15, 2008 Bob is on the road again with what is a unique and powerful grocery-getter!

Congratulations go out to Bob!

Nov. 09 - Summary: First order of business ---- front calipers. They were not too bad in the cleaning dept, but some crud in the nooks & crannies, so I resorted to the chemical route. I took rubbing alcohol on a Bounty paper towel and scrubbed the hell out of all the surfaces! After they dried I then hit them with the Metallic primer, or pre-coat, what ever they call it! Then the blue. I had just enough in the can to finish them, and then the paint ran out!  As we got into the brake mod, we were in a deep world of hurt with some problems.
Yesterdays problems were solved, but today we have a whole batch of new ones! Traction bar dilemma: I went on a major scavenger hunt early this morning, --- and found bolts.

Next issue: My factory overload springs will not allow the traction bars to be installed.

They interfer! Our tenative solution: Jim is going to take the plasma torch to the small front section of this overload spring, and cut it off so the traction bar will fit, but leave the spring and the back half in place.

Rear end posi : I was not there when they installed this unit, but Jim took pics when they checked the backlash. It came out perfect!

Rear brake spacer: Per Ricks' blog at the V8S10 site, we needed these, so we followed his instruction and cut them from the old
backing plates. Painted them, which was stupid at this time, and then did a trial fit. Cut per the pic on the blog, they did not fit the
new backing plates! There is a recess that these must go into on the backing plates, and the holes are not symmetrical. They will
only align one way, but first I had to re-trim the square corners to a radius to fit into the new backing plates! Then everything aligned.
We put in the new axle seals, and these seem to be better made than the originals. They have a double lip! They wer National #710166,
which were Moog designed.
The rotors were next, but the left one needed a little grinding done to allow the center hole to slip over the axle. Not a big deal. And then the
rear calipers were installed, using LockTite on the bolts.
