YEAR 2008:

NEW CLUB PRESIDENT!  -- At the August club meeting Bob Borchers was elected as the  new President for GOFASST.  His term is for two years as we have done in the past.  As you may know Bob was the Coordinator for the March Daytona Event in 2008 and he has a black Wagon that is an ISSCA show winner multiple times.  Lets all support the new President as we go forward!   The out-going President Mike Morgan had managed the position as a result of our former president Les, having to move back to Las Vegas.  As you know Mike had held the position for the prior years. Thanks to  MIke for all the time, effort and support during the recent transition period and all the years before!  Our club is now ready for another growth spurt as we invite all owners of older Impalas into the club.  GOOD LUCK BOB !!!!!

Nov 26, 2005 ....Turkey Rod .... GOFASST gathering.  On Saturday, Nov. 26th 2005, we had 7 Impalas caravan to Daytona in the morning.  We met up with several other club members for breakfast at Denny's just East of the Speedway.  We then all went our own way to the largest Turkey Rod event ever.

They estimate that about 6,000 cars were on display with so many parts vendors that we could not see it all in one day.  The weather was perfect!  While we all seemed to have a hard time finding Impala parts or deals, it was a great day for anyone who likes custom rides and hot rods.

We then met at the Ale House for drinks and dinner.  What a great way to share stories and visit with even more folks who came to join in and then cruise the A-1-A strip.  What sights and sounds to behold ..... overall a terific way to spend a day!  Thanks to all who joined in on the fun!

MOD DAY on October 8th 2005 a Success:
The Mod Day at Terry Rodgers' home took the place of our normal monthly cruise night.  There were 17 Impalas, 9C1, and SS Wagons present.  The lift was kept busy most of the day.  Len Phillips DCM Impala had new springs and new shocks installed all the way around.  Len and James did most of the work.  Other work included a driveshaft guard install, muffler fix, and a few other items.
In the parking area, other mods such as custom side-script installs, interior work and headlight installs were going on all day. There were sandwiches for lunch and then about 6 pm there were BBQ hamburgers and Hot Dogs with cake and ice cream.  Thanks to Bob Marks and his wife for the goodies!  Pictures are posted under "Prior Events" button!

Tires that "Smoke in Color!"
KUMHO to increase production of ECSTA MX-C colored smoke tires.............

FONTANA, CA… September 23, 2005...KUMHO Tire USA will increase production of the ECSTA MX-C, the company’s attention-getting tire that produces colored smoke. KUMHO debuted the MX-C at with Enjuku Racing at the Formula Drift event at Road Atlanta on May 6 and 7.

The ECSTA MX-C is identical to the popular ECSTA MX, KUMHO’s top-of-the-line street tire. The MX-C has additional chemicals in the compound that produce either red or blue smoke. The MX-C was initially produced in limited quantities and in only one size--255/40R17—the size that Enjuku Racing needed for its drift cars.

“Public response to the MX-C has been overwhelming,” said Rick Brennan, brand director for KUMHO Tire USA. “There has been a lot of interest in and demand for the tire in the U.S., Japan, Europe and the U.K., so we’re bumping up production to meet the SCCA’s Formula D rules and to make the tire readily available for drifting and burnout competitions here in the States.” In July, the SCCA changed the Formula D tire rules, requiring tire companies to produce a minimum of 2,500 of any tire used in Formula D.

KUMHO will offer the MX-C in two colors (red and blue) and in four sizes: 225/50R16, 255/40R17, 275/40R17 and 275/40R18. The tire will be readily available through the Tire Rack and will be available through special order at any KUMHO dealer in the United States.

“We built the ECSTA MX-C to demonstrate our forward thinking, our technical capabilities and our ability to respond quickly to the market,” noted Brennan. “We knew from the public’s reaction that we had a winning product on our hands. Like our 26-inch and 28-inch ECSTA STX light truck tires, the MX-C charted new territory that no other tire company even thought about e
